6. The secret of time

One sunny morning, Alex, a curious seven-year-old boy, was playing in the garden with his kitten, Lexie. Lexie was a silver-gray kitten with little white paws and a white patch on her tiny nose, always ready for an adventure.

“Alex, what are you doing?” Lexie suddenly asked. The kitten was talking!

“Lexie?! You can talk?!” Alex exclaimed.

“Of course, Alex! But only when we have something very important to discuss,” Lexie said, stretching lazily on the grass. “Tell me, Alex, do you know what time is?”

Alex thought for a moment and then replied:

“Time? It’s the clock that goes ‘tick-tock’ and tells me when it’s time to eat or go to bed.”

Lexie flicked her tail and chuckled.

“Oh, Alex, that’s just something humans invented. But real time… well, that’s something we need to discover together.”

The kitten stood up, made an elegant leap, and said,

“Come on, let’s go on an adventure!”

The Gate to the Present

Lexie led Alex to a hidden corner of the garden, where a small, glowing gate had appeared out of nowhere. Above it, golden letters spelled: “The Gate to Now.”

“If time is an illusion, then what do you think ‘now’ really is?” Lexie asked.

“Maybe it’s the moment we’re living in,” Alex said thoughtfully.

Lexie nodded approvingly.

“Exactly, Alex. But let’s see what it really means.”

They stepped through the gate and found themselves in a magical place. Everything around them was alive: flowers swayed as if dancing, clouds painted vibrant patterns across the sky, and a river hummed a soft, peaceful tune.

“Where are we?” Alex asked, amazed.

“We’re in the ‘Now,’” Lexie explained. “Here, there’s no past or future. What matters is what you feel, see, and do in this very moment.”

The Lesson of the Present Moment

As they walked, Alex noticed a bird singing on a branch. He wanted to rush ahead, but Lexie stopped him.

“Wait, Alex. Listen. What do you hear?”

“I hear the bird’s song. It’s so beautiful!”

“Exactly. If you had hurried, you would have missed this wonderful moment.”

Then Alex saw a flower slowly blooming in the sunlight.

“Look, Lexie! That flower is so beautiful!”

“That’s the magic of ‘Now,’ Alex,” Lexie said. “Everything true and beautiful happens only here, in this moment. If you think too much about what was or what will be, you’ll miss the gift of the present.”

When they returned home, Alex felt different. In the garden, he started noticing how bright the leaves looked in the sunlight and how sweet the morning air smelled.

“Lexie, I think I understand. If time is an illusion, then ‘now’ is the only place where we can truly live.”

Lexie purred contentedly.

“Exactly, Alex. Life is a series of ‘now’ moments. And if you cherish them, you’ll always find joy.”

From that day on, Alex and Lexie lived each moment as a little adventure, learning to appreciate the beauty of the present.

And so, Alex discovered the greatest secret of time: ‘Now’ is where all the magic happens.
